Nesbox on Xbox One?

What’s up gamers and welcome to this intriguing bit of information with special thanks to our guest writer BLaZeD_MaNiAc_ for sharing it with us. I don’t know how many of you remember the old days of modding or currently using emulators on your computer? Hell the PSP was big on that back in my day playing all sorts of things even Pokemon on it. It seems that a certain company has decided to do the same thing for you Xbox One owners. I don’t think this is going to go too well for a certain party.

The original article is on Techradar where Microsoft has just approved a classic Nintendo Emulator to be played on the Xbox One.

Universal Emulator, an independent application by developer Nesbox, passed Xbox One certification today. It allows users to play ROMs of NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advanced titles. (Yes, this is legally dubious, and yes, TechRadar does not endorse the illegal use of emulators.)

However, it seems the people at Nexbox don’t have the approval for Xbox One.

Hmm, seems to be a bit of confusion as to what is actually approved here where the Nesbox developers are not officially confirming Xbox One support, at least not yet. It seems that there might be some iffy dealings to have to be done before that gets the official go, but moving on.

This is nothing new to Window’s PC users who I am sure to have been using an NES emulator for years, but damn this is a bold move for Microsoft to bring this to consoles, which is not unheard of. Remember the Dreamcast Boot that let you play PlayStation 2 games on their system? I do and I still have the disc. I know for a fact that this is a real slap in the face to Nintendo, but honestly, they may be powerless to stop this since the real loophole here is the fact that they are just providing the emulator. There would be a case if they provided the games as well, but you as the gamer have to get the roms somehow yourselves.

Weird how this is coming out of nowhere with a few months away from the release of the Nintendo Mini.

The upside to this news is that Xbox sales will go up for those gamer enthusiasts that enjoy things like this if this officially gets greenlit that is. I still have my original Xbox that was modified with a special hard drive to do just this, but as of right now I am sure there will be a battle to be had. Keep in mind nothing is stating that it is official to be played on Xbox One, but if it does…oh boy.

I want to hear from you the gamer on what you think about this news. How does this make you feel? Are you interested? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
