Born With a Controller Interviews BLaZeD_MaNiAc_

It has been a while gamers and I do apologize for the late segment, but we are back with a new Born with a Controller featuring a long time friend of mine BLaZeD_MaNiAc_. The funny part is that it took me a while to spell her name properly, but that’s not why we are here. We are here to talk about those gamers out there like yourself with a story to tell. I have been fascinated when I was working at the Wonder Lab and talking with gamers playing on the PlayStation systems finding out what made them a gamer. Here are we today and without further delay let’s chat with BLaZeD_MaNiAc_.

13332947_10153688756606446_5617733177276207839_nI am trying to remember how we met and what game. I will have to say Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 maybe or Blackops 2. She is probably going to kill me for not remembering, but Christine a.k.a BLaZeD_MaNiAc_ has been one of my favorite gaming comrades for a long time. Always had my back in the FPS world and now I want you all to know her like I do.

First up, when was your first experience with video games?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_:Well I was about maybe 5 or 6 and it was with an Atari followed by my very first system Nintendo with duck hunt! I was fascinated with the alternate reality and adventures video games were bringing me in a not so good situation in home life. It’s surprising how people say, “oh your children won’t remember Christmas gifts…” well I remember waking up to open up my first PlayStation, my first GameCube, my first Sega, so on and so on. Most girls wanted dolls, and all I asked for was video games!

Damn, well was it at that moment you knew you were born with a controller?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_: Considering back in the early 90’s we didn’t have all the technology we have today, video games were popular but no so mainstream, I definitely feel like they had a major impact on my childhood. There were some teenage years where titles like GTA, burnout, and Socom played in the background of my delinquent teenager lifestyle, but after some early life lessons, a brand new PlayStation 2 some call of duty, video games became a major part of my life.

Sounds like a deep impact. Did you struggle with your passion for gaming? Like was it frowned upon or did you have full support?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_: Definitely was frown upon for my teenage years. As if breaking the law, getting in trouble etc wasn’t frowned upon enough, I learned my lessons there. I then straighten up and all I wanted was to go to school, and then come home and play video games. Yes, back then we still played outside, went swimming at the lake, and all the normal childhood stuff. however being good in my room playing a video game was a bad thing in so many eyes, as if no one understood what I saw in video games. Later though I was to say around 19 or so I fell into the almost fully supported gaming world of competitive gaming. I say almost fully since back then it was a lot harder as a female gamer.

That is quite awesome, it seems it made you a better person and gamer. How about your friends socially? Have you met interesting people while being a gamer?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_: I actually consider some of my “gaming” friends(as outsiders would say) some of my closest friends and greatest friends I have nowadays, in fact, I won’t even say it sadly but some of my only friends I have in my adult life. Some people may frown upon it like, “how can you care or call someone you never met a friend?” Well, we hang out daily, we go on epic adventures together, we laugh, we cry , we share common interest normally in more than just gaming. We seek advice, and support for our outside of gaming lives from one another if that doesn’t make someone a friend then what does? Oh, you went to a bar with Becky and got shit faced? Well me and slayed a freaking dragon, a DRAGON. (laughs)

Sounds like friends no matter what to me. In that what would be your funniest memory in a gaming situation with your friends?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_: Just one moment? God, everyday there’s a new moment to be had! I have like weekly moments it seems anymore, especially when your surrounded by an awesome gaming community. However a moment some of us still bring up because of how locally funny it was I actually have a video of . Battlefield definitely is one game I have some the greatest memories in aka #OnlyInBattlefieldMoments. The above clip was back in the good ole Delta Force days when early in March someone got a lav stuck on the bridge, followed by myself and not so helpful squadmates trying to get him unstuck, only for him to get stuck again. (The person stuck is none other then Minddust_1792)

Wow, that was a doozy. I know I should not have to ask, but what are you currently looking forward to in upcoming games?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_: There’s more than 1 upcoming game? I’m on a major Battlefield 1 Hype! Don’t get me wrong in reality there are games like outlast 2 and death stranding that I am also looking forward to. However I am ungodly ready to take a step back in time, and enjoy the naked gameplay of battlefield 1! Over the past few days, I’m actually more excited to step into the Single Player campaign of Battlefield 1, one those things where I want to go kill stuff with the community, but I also want to just sit back and go on an adventure within the campaign.

Do you favor more with FPS or are there other genres you enjoy?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_: I’m definitely more of an FPS gamer, however, I do enjoy playing single player adventure games like last of us, uncharted series, Tomb Raider series, and similar titles. I’m also a major Horror Fan! Preferably ones in First Person, since nowadays 3rd person tends to hurt my eyes after a short time.

Oh god, horror games are my weakness, but what would you say is your favorite horror title?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_: More recently in the past couple of years I am a huge fan of the Outlast series, between the absolutely defenseless hide and seek gameplay style, the jump scares, and the utter stuck in hiding. It’s definitely a thrill ride!

Well more power to you. Definitely, appreciate your time and in closing would you like to say something to future gamers out there?

BLaZeD_MaNiAc_: Don’t let people say video games are a bad habit, the people in your life that say this are toxic, you don’t need them in your life. The gaming community is one community I’m proud to be a part of I wouldn’t change it for anything! I’m honored to have met some amazing people from all over the world and call them my friends! Also if your jumping on BF1, give me some Ammo! (laughs)
