Shipping in Gaming, how do you choose?

I have to give credit to my friend Seph_Dean who brought up old memories as he chose Peebee in Mass Effect Andromeda as his in game waifu. It took me back to previous games that had the same choice system made me wonder how did other games make their choice. Did their choices involve achievement/trophy base or was their personal reasoning. I mean we have our ideas of fantasy crushes through anything geeky. I really thought about this decision in Mass Effect 2 and 3 as I made Jack my girlfriend, but I had to ask other gamers their thoughts on this.

I asked gamers on player.me, Elite Girl Gamers and a few other places to find out what they had to say which you saw a few in the video above. This made me think further back not just recently in games like Def Jam fight for New York where at a point you can fight for a Girlfriend and then, later on, you have to fight to keep her again. In these elements to bring a bit of emotion to the gaming world has always been fascinating like Fable for example where you can have a family or in Fable 3 where you can marry another gamer. Even the added marriage system in Final Fantasy 14 was touching, but to be honest there were some nice perks when you married a person in that game.

So now that Mass Effect Andromeda has been released, I am back to that age old question once again. We are now a week into this game and I have decided to ship with Cora because I honestly like her combat skills and she just goes in on enemies without hesitation. I hardly ever think about the trophy/achievement perks by choosing certain characters, but hats off to those that go through the struggle in shipping with all characters for the trophy/achievement. Bravo to you, because I do not have the patience for all of that.

Okay, I stayed on this subject for far too long, but if you want to share your reasons please do so in the comments below. If you feel I have run out of things to post about, that is okay, but I am working on a review right now so consider this a side quest. – Beast Out
