Kuma’s Sony E3 Experience
Special shout out to my VGtidbits peoples for always hooking me up with event information. So, headed to Union Square last night to check out the free event for Sony E3 Experience for the third year and as always you get the annoyance of the fanboys and many of them have those annoying Uncle/Dad jokes that make you cringe. But the atmosphere is always good with the right people that are there just for the purpose of what to expect next from Sony. Did it live up to our expectations?
Festivities kicked off at 8 pm with the pre-show which was enjoyable for the most part, I did enjoy the remastered reveal of Crash Bandicoot trilogy and the added edition of new levels as well as characters to play as. Now keep in mind that I am running on 3 hours of sleep so I can’t remember all of it, but the presentations were off the chart with live bands and interacting situations, especially when Days Gone was on screen with real animatronics on the side going nuts.
The one thing I had to agree with my comrades was what could Sony show us that was already revealed months before and then BOOM we get a new Monster Hunter World trailer which made me so happy to see it return to PlayStation, but no Vita support? What is up with that? Monster Hunter has been a favorite of mine for years when I first played on the PS2. I had a few of the PSP games, but this was a great game to have on the handhelds, so the reveal even though was sweet still a bit disappointing that the Vita is ignored yet again.
Undertale was revealed to be coming to the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita console which the whole theater went nuts over. However, I was mostly laughing because here we are before the show with some gamers talking about a game needs high-end graphics with ultimate 4k, actually scratch that this is what I keep hearing for years. A game like undertale is not really high-end graphics, but it is not a bad game which I keep telling people it is all about how the game plays. I liked Undertale for the story and how you plays will determine the ending. It was innovative and unique, but simple. Great job adding that to consoles.
There were some VR titles, but that didn’t really peek much of my interest outside of Moss which looked pretty cool. There was the extended gameplay of Days Gone, God of War, Detroit: Become Human, Uncharted: Lost Legacy, Horizon: Zero Dawn DLC, Call of Duty: WWII and the huge Spider-man Gameplay reveal. I will talk about each one separately in other posts, but what’s up with no The Last of Us 2 gameplay? I was actually looking forward to more of that reveal outside of everything else. They didn’t even show Hellblade which I just realized today.
It wasn’t all that jaw dropping, but I was mildly satisfied in the end. Pretty good Sony, but you still need to work on a few of your subscriptions, especially giving us back the magic we had on the PS3. That is just personal thoughts on that. Please share your thoughts in the comments below, what did you enjoy and what did you want to see more of? Be sure to check back for more E3 post and more. – Beast Out –
