Nintendo Switch’s Online Service in 2018
Good Morning gamers and welcome back, how are you? Nintendo is the topic of this day and yes I know what you are thinking? “Kuma, we know about it already!” Oh I am sure many of you have read about it but there are still a few that I am looking under rocks that may not know about this new streaming service. Now thanks to my bro Monte’s Mayhem, handsome fellow you should check out his sick bass work and my cousin Mr. Trickster who is a Nintendo enthusiast hit me up on this information. I was perplexed a bit because I thought as my cousin stated, “So…NESflix and chill?” That is going to be a new thing in 2018.
Online Play on Nintendo Switch
You’ll be able to play compatible co-op and competitive games online by signing in with your Nintendo Account. Online play will be free for Nintendo Account holders until our paid online service launches in 2018.
After the free-trial period, most games will require a paid online service subscription from Nintendo in order to play online.
This service is only for Nintendo Switch. It does not affect online play or features for the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
It was already stated this year that there will be a fee coming soon to the Nintendo Switch for online play. I am not surprised and I am still giving gamers the side eye when they are disturbed on the news. Hey Xbox does it and so does PlayStation, so Nintendo is going to play with the big boys too. It was bound to happen, but do not concern with the paid service, be more concerned on if it will benefit you as the customer. Also keep in mind that this will be a service at the cost of $20.00 and that is not bad compared to the 60 dollar price tag from Sony and Xbox.
Online lobby and voice chat
Our new dedicated smart device app will connect to Nintendo Switch and let you invite friends to play online, set play appointments, and chat with friends during online matches in compatible games─all from your smart device.
A free, limited version of this app will be available for download in summer 2017.
I am hoping this will be improved since from what I recall with the Nintendo WiiU that voice support was not implemented for many reasons. Nintendo is a Family friendly company and tried to stray away from the toxicity of online trash talking, but it can’t be helped when playing online. I just say that gamers have the choice of the mute button which has been a blessing in many games. Also private party rooms is a must since this is the first time they are doing something of this nature I hope they took that into consideration.
Classic Game Selection*
Subscribers will get to download a compilation of classic titles with added online play, such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight and Dr. Mario.
I know what some of you might be stating, “Well that is not a lot.” It is just a preview of video games to come, please keep an open mind that they will talk about what statistically is considered their most popular titles. Now I do not own a switch…yet, but so far there are a lot of great games coming out and this new feature which is affordable is catching my interest. See what happens in 2018, but in the mean time enjoy the free services right now and prepare for more information during E3 2017. – Beast Out –
